DJ Headphones preference is truly subjective. Each person looks for something a little bit different based on where they use them (ie bedroom versus club) and what they use them for (ie. DJing versus production). Preferences for portability, shape, and sound vary as well.

Since there are many important things to look for in a pair of DJ headphones, here is a breakdown of some things to consider before you choose:

Sound Quality

Naturally… it’s all about the music. Great DJ headphones will feature powerful drivers that reproduce crystal clear lows, mids and highs so you don’t miss a beat. Make sure you choose a pair that’s loud, clean and puts you right in the music. There’s nothing more important than this.

Noise Isolation

Being a DJ means finding yourself in loud environments. To ensure that nothing distracts you from your music, choose a pair of DJ headphones that provide much needed sound isolation to ferret out background noise. You’ll want to look for a closed ear design that separates what’s going on inside your DJ headphones… from what’s going on around you.

Strong Construction

DJ headphones undergo a lot of wear and tear. If you choose a pair that has inferior parts, weak connections, or a less than sturdy build, they won’t be able to withstand the rigors of DJing. Be sure to consider what goes into the build of a pair you’re considering and how it stacks up against other models. Quality parts make quality headphones.

Portability

Do your headphones feature folding design for easy storage? Do they come with a convenient or protective case that will keep them in better condition longer? These are good things to consider.

Comfort

Good DJ headphones feel good on your head. And not just for a few minutes… but possibly for hours on end. Make sure the fit is good, the pads are soft and secure and one ear monitoring is comfortable before you buy.

Price?

When it comes to DJ headphones, price is an important factor… but it shouldn’t be the most important factor. In general a higher price is going to mean better materials, a better build, better sound, and better features but there are certainly exceptions to this rule. The key is to use a guide, but to look within your range to make sure your other important factors are being met.

Bottom line? If you’re a DJ you’re going to need high quality DJ headphones that will last long, feel comfortable, and help you catch each beat so you can do what you do best. That doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune. But it does mean you should do your due diligence, consider what’s most important to you and seek out the pair that offers the best combination of attributes within your budget. Happy shopping!

When a person Free Spiritual Talks about trying to find soundproof headphones, they are probably looking out for a set of headphones that block out ambient noise. Background noise is merely a term for the standard noise in your environment. This noise can include computer fans, noise from your air filter and/or heating and cooling equipment. It can also include noise from your landscapers, children, and so on. Whatever the source of noise, you want it eliminated so that you can enjoy the sound coming from the headphones without anything added to it.

There are 2 major kinds of sound evidence headphones. There are active noise cancellation units and passive units. The active noise cancellation headphones use noise canceling technology which requires its own power supply, sometimes one or two AA batteries. They’ve a microphone on the outside of the headphones which monitors the noise. This noise is fed to a small amplifier and it creates the exact opposite noise to what is happening outside. This’opposite’ noise is fed into the headphones and the net effect is silence. The silence comes as the 2 sources of noise cancel each other out when they reach your ears. These kind of headphones have two major downsides, the 1st being price and the second is the requirement for batteries to power the noise canceling circuitry. A few of them also don’t work all that well. You should try the headphones at the store before buying.

The passive type of sound evidence headphones uses sound soaking up technology. This comes in the shape of various sound dampening materials to isolate your ears from the outside. The ear cups often fit all around the ear, surrounding it completely. This method can be very effective. The downsides of this approach change. First, the headphones tend to be heavy. Second, the rubber surround on the ear cups has to fit well, so pressure needs to be applied. This can cause ear fatigue. Another potential problem is that you have a tendency to sweat on the rubber surround. Last, but not least, these headphones are anything apart from inconspicuous, so if you’re a commuter, prepare for some odd looks here and there.

Given that one of the major complaints made to local government councils is from people asking if they can do anything to stop the noise of the dawn chorus that birds make in the morning, it is clear that there is a need in the community for noise canceling headphones. It is not only the twittering of birds, but early morning lawn mowing, backfiring vehicles and air compression brakes on trucks that spoil you peaceful repose. We are in fact so accustomed to screening out high levels of background noise that those that do impinge on us are usually at quite a high level. Anyone who lives in an urban environment would probably be shocked by the silence of the suburbs – and those who live in the suburbs would probably be shocked by the silence of a desert.

While we are very adapted to life in a noisy environment, there is no doubt that constant screening out of intrusive sound is wearing and consumes much energy. The use of noise stopping headphones can give you a break for a while, and cushion the impact of noise.

Rather than using ear plugs, if you just want some time out – you need to be looking at getting some active noise cancelling headphones.

As with most things, you pay for what you get, but with a price range between $60-$600 you can probably look at the market and find adequate noise canceling headphones at a price you can afford.

Top of the range models are expensive so you should consider carefully what level of background music you want, and what level of ambient noise and interference you need to overcome and make your product choice accordingly.

Most noise cancelling headphones are reliable only when dealing with recurrent background noise – so if you only want to take a nap when everyone else is generally busy, a noise canceling headphone is probably enough and will give you the results that you need. If you need to escape from more intensive and irregular noise – then you may consider a passive system which blocks out all ambient noise – the upside of this being that if you need a passive noise isolation product – then on average the price is lower than for integrated noise canceling systems. Systems which enable freedom from high levels of random noise are not background noise canceling headphones but noise isolating units.

There is nothing worse than buying a portable music or media player and finding out a sub-standard set of headphones came with it! Isn’t it downright frustrating? With headphones being used with everything these days- with TVs, iPods, phones and portable media players, purchasing a reliable set can be a good investment. Naturally, headphones aren’t a substitute for a true theater experience, but you can’t bring an entire system with you wherever you go! So, the next best thing is a solid, versatile set of headphones.

The good news is that with the vast technology available, it is possible to find a set of headphones for whatever device that you may have. That’s great news for you! You’re able to take full advantage of the features offered by your particular electronic device. It’s not that one particular headphone can’t be used amongst several devices. Rather, it simply means that certain headphones are optimized for certain devices, such as your iPod. As such, there are different kinds of headphones available on the market. Some of these include stereo headphones, noise reduction headphones, DJ headphones, wireless headphones, surround sound headphones and earbuds.

Stereo headphones are designed for listening to portable music. They are best for use with your Zune or your iPod. If your mobile phone has a good sound quality on its own with an equalizer and has a 3.5mm audio jack, then you can use stereo headphones for that as well. Noise reduction headphones are those that help minimize or even eliminate background sound altogether. If you are walking down a busy street and you want to listen to some music, then these would be the perfect choice as you would hear nothing but the music. The noise cancellation feature makes noise reduction possible.

DJ headphones are meant for actual DJ’ing, at a club for instance. These are known to give powerful bass and the ear pieces often have a built in swivel mechanism making it possible to listen to them with just one ear. Wireless headphones are on the cutting edge of headphone technology and they are good, basic headphones, but without the cables. They are perfect for gaming or watching a movie. In most cases, these headphones usually have Bluetooth capabilities to aid in their functionality. There is nothing like wireless listening. It gives you the freedom to relax in your favorite Power Power Lifts as you watch a movie without the worries of getting tangled up in cables.

Surround sound headphones are designed to give you surround sound comparable to that of a home theater system. They too are perfect for watching a movie. The surprising thing is that they do manage to deliver on the actual surround sound quality though they are simply headphones.

Finally we have what are termed as earbuds which are the ones most commonly used for portable media devices. They manage to give a decent sound output despite the small size though they lack some of the sound quality of typical headphones. They are portable and compact, easily fit into your pocket and are great for this type of device.

Regardless of the device you need headphones for, you are sure to find a set that’s suitable for just about any application you desire!
